Nonsurgical Pain Treatments From Experienced Chiropractors

At NMCI, our Chiropractors provide treatment that helps relieve pain suffered from an injury, muscle spasm, accident, and/or trauma. Our doctors of chiropractic are skilled in low force, instrumentation, and/or manual osseous adjustments of the spine and extremities.

When you visit a chiropractor, you will receive a consultation, case history, physical examination, and X-ray examination when appropriate. This assessment will help guide the course of your treatment. Additionally, you will receive a chiropractic structural examination, with particular focus on the spine.

Chiropractic adjustments work by adjusting and manipulating bones and muscles. All treatments are performed by hand – no medication or surgery necessary. This is why chiropractic care is a popular choice for patients who wish to avoid narcotics and invasive treatments.

While chiropractic care can be sufficient pain relief in some cases, this treatment alone is not always enough. Since we have a multidisciplinary team at NMCI, our chiropractors can refer patients for a full complement of medical treatment as well.

Low Back Pain & Neck Pain Treatment

Back and neck pain can be difficult conditions to treat. It often takes trial and error before a physician can find the true cause of these problems. For this reason, it is important to only consider surgery as a last resort treatment to these problems. Noninvasive treatments can often achieve the results patients need if the true cause of the pain is discovered.

Chiropractic care has a high success rate in treating lower back and neck pain. According to a study from the British Medical Journal 2003, chiropractic adjustments often result in faster recovery for these problems than physiotherapy or general practitioner care.

Chiropractic Headache Treatment

Second only to back pain, headaches are one of the most common conditions regularly managed by chiropractors. Many patients have found relief from headaches and migraines through spinal manipulation. The most common type of headache treated with chiropractic care is cervicogenic headaches. Cervicogenic headaches do not usually respond to medication. Chiropractic care can help by stretching the deep neck flexor muscles that support the neck, as poor neck support is a common cause of cervicogenic headaches.

Although rare, there are some risks to receiving spinal manipulation on the support portions of the neck, including stroke, nerve compression, disc herniation, and bleeding. Be sure to discuss these with your care provider.
